Polarization is a cultural phenomenon in which an increasing number of people in a society come to hold opinions at the far ends of that society’s spectrum of belief.
Furthermore, polarization feeds upon itself. It does not consist solely of pushing people toward the far ends of the existing spectrum, it also tends to broaden that spectrum making it even more extreme.
Increasingly this is a phenomenon that’s impacting congregations.
